Taking care for your unborn child is essential for a healthy baby. Here is something that may surprise you. The brain of your baby will be fairly well developed before your baby is even born. And baby will actually begin learning things while inside the womb. Research shows that a lot of brain development happens before birth. Good parental care is essential for a healthy mom and baby.

These are the following Ways to Have a Healthy Pregnancy and Baby

  • See your health care provider for a complete checkup from the start of your pregnancy.
  • Don’t smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol or take drugs. Mums who smoke often have babies with lower birth weights, which increase the risks for learning and behavior problems during childhood.
  • Eat healthy foods, including fruits and vegetables, eggs, low-fat milk, cheese and grains. Good nutrition is essential both for the mother and baby. Less Quantity of folic acid during pregnancy can cause neural tube defects. While pregnancy, women get at least 400 micrograms of folic acid every day, through food and/or supplements.
  • Take good care of your health and exercise sensibly. Maternal stress can change a baby’s brain development as well. Newborns exposed to greater maternal stress have slower response times and poorer coordination. They can distract more easily than other newborns.
  • Have your baby checked by your health care provider right after birth and throughout childhood.

How to interact with your unborn child:

  • Talk to your baby frequently. This way, your baby will know your voice well at the time he/she is born. He/she can hear dad’s voice also.
  • Play your favorite music.
  • Provide a calming touch. If the baby seems restless, soothe him/her by gently stroking your abdomen.
  • Do not take stress. Try to eliminate stress-inducing factors that may be within your control. Stress management can help you to deal with the challenges of labor and parenting.
  • Create a pleasant environment. Avoid unpleasant noise when possible to create a relaxing ambiance for your baby.
