Summer vacations are around the corner and the sun is scorching. Long sunny days and the over active kids. They won’t stay indoors because they are too restless to do that. They can’t sit at one place for long time. They will play outdoors and sweat…Get tanned….Get sick…etc etc. So here comes in play the role of parents to take care of your little ones and to keep them safe from the sun. So here are few tips for Summer Protection for kids.
Being prepared to protect your children’s skin will help you prevent unwarranted disasters in outings or vacations. Sun rays are strongest between 10 am to 4 pm. It’s better to stay indoors during this time.

  • NEWBORNS

Keep the newborns out of direct sunlight. When the newborn crosses six months then sunscreens can be applied.

  • SUNSCREENS

Look for sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide with SPF 30.

Choose a broad spectrum sunscreen which protects against UVA & UVB rays.

Avoid sunscreens that contains parabens or those which are scented or tinted.

    USAGE

Apply sunscreens 15 to 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every 2 hours.

  • DRESSING UP IN SUMMER

Dress up kids in light weight cotton clothes as they absorb the sweat. Also choose hues like red, blue and green as they don’t absorb sunlight. Kids can wear broad brimmed hats to protect eyes from direct sunlight. Umbrellas to be used if going out in sun.

  • DIET

It is important to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and foods rich in antioxidants. Also give your child plenty of fluids so that they don’t dehydrate.

  • PRICKLY HEAT AND SUNBURNS

Kids sweat a lot and with this they can get heat rashes or prickly heat which are tiny red bumps on skin. For this calamine lotion can be applied to soothe it. For sunburns cool compression or aloe vera gel can be applied.

    At the end remember SHADE
    SUNSCREEN
    HAT
    ALLOW BREAKS
    DRINK WATER
    EYE PROTECTION
SUMMER IS Summer Protection for kidsJUST A STATE OF MIND. With the DO’s and DONT’s in mind…
THE TANS WILL FADE BUT THE MEMORIES WILL LAST FOREVER.
    HAPPY VACATIONS AND SAFE SUMMER.
